Can something as simple as focused breathing drastically change our brains?
Meriah DeJoseph
Exciting studies in the last decade have shown that practicing mindfulness can bring a variety of mental and physical health benefits. Mindfulness has become the latest trend in today’s society, but what does the research really say about it? In this talk, we will explore how and why our brains are wired to regulate our thoughts and emotions, what happens when our ability to regulate fails, and how mindfulness can be used as a tool to maintain self-regulation in both adults and children.
Falling in love is a profound experience driven by chemical activity.
Dr. Bianca Jones-Marlin
Babies change everything. Dr. Marlin examines how the brain adapts to care for a newborn, and how a baby’s cry can control adult behavior. Her research focuses on the vital bond between parent and child, and investigates the use of neurochemicals, such as the “love drug” oxytocin, as a treatment to strengthen fragile and broken parent-child relationships
