Meet us at Coppertail Brewing for an evening of brainstorming!  We are delighted to have Marissa Voors, a speech-language pathologist, Dr. Amber Gum, a psychologist and professor at the University of South Florida, and Dr. Eric Lau, a cancer biologist and assistant professor at the Moffitt Cancer Center share their stories and talk with us about the clever approaches they use to tackle familiar health complications and challenges in our community.

Easier Said Than Done: Our Communication System and Breakdowns- Communicating seems simple enough. Most of us speak, listen, read, write, email, or text hundreds of times in a single day in order to share ideas. The process is truly a complicated and well-oiled machine that usually develops when we are very young and flourishes as our brains mature. However, each part can break down resulting in complications and challenges.

I know what I want to do - why don't I do it? - Most of us have things we believe we "should" do (like eat healthier) or things we would like to do (like write a novel), but we don't do them. Why not? What helps us achieve our goals? Dr. Gum, licensed psychologist and professor at the University of South Florida, will present behavioral strategies that help people overcome obstacles and pursue personally meaningful goals.
