Join us at Southern Brewing & Winemaking for an evening of discussion about BEER! Curious about what gives your favorite suds their flavor? Pondering fermentation? Meditating about malts? Beer: Cooking Meets Science — In her interactive discussion, Mary will explore the effect of water and yeast on the taste of beer. Two batches of beer were brewed, one with tap water and one with reverse osmosis water. Each batch was split into three fermenters, each getting a different type of yeast. Participants will have the opportunity to taste these six beers to see if they can identify any difference in flavor.

The Geology of Beer — Beer is a delicious reminder of its origins; whether in its grains, its hops, the yeast, or the water that makes up most of the drink. Come find out how beer is a reflection of the geology beneath our feet.
