Laura Hamel - Memphis
I got involved because I come from a family of non-scientists and learned early on how to communicate science to the non-scientist (aka normal person). The further I got in my career, the more I realized what a blessing and a skill it was to be able to communicate and teach to any level. I have so many experiences over the years, and reasons I keep going, but one of the amazing things taste of science has brought me is leverage when I applied for my postdoc position, and my current job. Both managers told me they hired me because my involvement with taste of science pushed me beyond the requirements and made me stand out.
