HOW SMART IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

Dr Bonny Banerjee

Assistant Professor, Institute for Intelligent Systems and Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering University of Memphis

The field of AI has come a long way since the term was coined in 1956. For the first time, self-driving cars seem to be within reach. This talk will cover four applications of cutting-edge AI that will improve the quality of life at a reduced cost: (1) tuning cochlear implants for the deaf, (2) detecting unusual objects, actions and events to reduce crime, (3) predicting agitated behavior in individuals with mental-illness, and (4) predicting abnormal traffic from the Internet of Things.
