You may have heard of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the news recently, particularly with regard to their presence in our drinking water. So should we be worried?

PFAS, nicknamed “forever chemicals”, pose significant public health concerns because of their long-lasting nature, their mobility, and the many associated health effects. So we are keen to hear from Dr. Jahred Liddie about his research on PFAS, drinking water, and new directions in making these data accessible for all.

This event will go live on Crowdcast.

Meet the Speaker: Dr. Jahred Liddie

Jahred is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Water, Health, and Opportunity Lab at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. Most of his research lies at the intersection of drinking water quality and public health. He has led a variety of projects on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals”) using techniques from data science and the lab. He tries to imbue this work with his interests in open science, data visualization, and science communication.
