Join us for a screening of the movie Contagion at the Houston Health museum with Professor and American Public Health Association member Dr. Catherine Troisi providing intermittent commentary on the film's finer, wronger points. Neima Briggs will also be joining the screening to provide commentary relevant to his research in tropical parasitic infections. Sponsored by AWIS Gulf Coast Houston Chapter. 


Meet our Commentators

Catherine Troisi

Dr. Troisi is an Associate Professor in the Divisions of Management, Policy, and Community Health and Epidemiology at University of Texas (UTHealth) School of Public Health and coordinator for the Leadership Studies Concentration.  She is an infectious disease epidemiologist with a specialty in viral infections. Her research areas are in HIV and viral hepatitis. She also does work with persons experiencing homelessness.

Neima Briggs

Neima's clinical and research interests are in combating tropical parasitic infections. His current research has been in the identification and preclinical development of a vaccine against human whipworm. Endemic human samples, predominately from Central America, are collected as part of this research.
