One of these is natural and from the Earth, the other is mostly man-made, they both encompass the globe.
Night three of our festival will feature two stories: one about the use of mushrooms in medical uses and their abilities, while the other is a story of how plastics became so popular and revolutionary in the past century.
Purni Wickramasinghe: "The Magic Mushroom"
Tsk tsk tsk! Not that kinda mushroom! But think about it, what if mushrooms do more than your usual suspects that get you to fly up high? What if they cure cancer? What if they could help with my dad's diabetes or even my mom's high blood pressure?
Nolan Mitchell: "Where'd all this plastic come from?"
You use it and see it every day, plastic. From grocery bags, to hard hats, to piping, the synthetic materials have shown up in massive uses over the past century. This is a small story about where they came from, how they were discovered, and what is going to happen next.
